What plant growth responses can I expect from Nutri-Phite®?

Improved rooting
Improved ability to absorb water and nutrients
Stimulation of flower bloom and seed development
Improved plant strength and ability to tolerate unfavorable environmental conditions
Increased yield and quality

How does Nutri-Phite@ work?

Nutri-Phite® has two important roles in plant vigor and health. Phosphite is a significant source of Phosphorus - a key plant nutrient. Nutri-Phite® is especially useful in meeting the phosphorus needs of the plant during critical times of crop development when conventional soil applied phosphate fertilizer fails to meet the nutrient demand of the crop.

The second important role in plant health is the stimulation of key metabolic pathways that are involved with growth, development and the production of phytoalexins. These compounds are involved in "natural plant resistance" and account for systemic acquired resistance. (Stimulation of Shikimic Acid Pathway - SAP)

Is Nutri-Phite® compatible with other fertilizers, pesticides or fungicides?

Nutri-Phite® is fully compatible with other fertilizers, pesticides and fungicides when used according to the product label.

I already have high soil levels of P - why should I apply more?

The majority of applied phosphorous PO4 is quickly and almost completely mineralized (fixed) to clay particles making it unavailable to the plant. Phosphorus becomes available to the plant very slowly and its diffusion rate in the soil is very slow. So in times of peak demand, a crop with high yield potential may be limited by available P. The application of Nutri-Phite® will help meet P demand under these conditions.

Is there enough in a foliar spray to do any good ?

General crop requirements range form 15 - 40 lbs P2O5 equivalent
Total requirements are 3-4 x crop requirements
Average daily requirement = 0.1 - 0.3 lbs per day (180 day crop cycle) Peak demand times require more.
1 litre of Nutri-Phite P Foliar = 0.87 lbs per acre

Why don't I always see a tissue response?

Phosphorus is very mobile once inside the plant
Phosphorus goes where it is needed
Roots/flowers/new shoots tend to be a target for phosphorus applications
Phosphorus tends to accumulate in the growing points - the areas not tested in foliar tissue tests. (see diagram)

Phosphorous versus Phosphorus

phosphorous

\Phos"phor*ous\, a. [Cf. F. phosphoreux.] (Chem.) Of or pertaining to phosphorus; resembling or containing phosphorus; specifically, designating those compounds in which phosphorus has a lower valence as contrasted with phosphoric compounds; as, phosphorous acid, H3PO3.

phosphorus

\Phos"phor*us\, n.; pl. Phosphori. 2. (Chem.) A poisonous nonmetallic element of the nitrogen group, obtained as a white, or yellowish, translucent waxy substance, having a characteristic disagreeable smell. It is very active chemically, must be preserved under water, and unites with oxygen even at ordinary temperatures, giving a faint glow, -- whence its name. It always occurs compined, usually in phosphates, as in the mineral apatite, in bones, etc. It is used in the composition on the tips of friction matches, and for many other purposes. The molecule contains four atoms. Symbol P. Atomic weight 31.0.
